Additional Information

Period: Aug 1933 Art Deco
Material: Oak and Burr Walnut
Origin: German

Superb German Westminster chiming Art Deco Mantle clock by HAC. (Hamburg American Clock Company, Württemberg, one of Germany’s best known clock makers of the early 20th Century).

The clocks hand-crafted and wonderfully proportioned case (numbered “3581 J4 4”), offers the differing wood finishes of a burr Walnut front with a dark Oak body. The cases design has clean, simplistic lines right on-message with its Deco vogue heritage, being both proudly eye-catching and visually stunning!

A clocks rectangular skeleton chrome chapter ring lies directly on the case, with bold Arabic numerals. This is partnered with a pair of original chrome bespoke Deco style hands secured with a pinned collet. The dial is then protected by a glazed cover, mounted in a chrome bezel.

The clock has a quality-engineered HAC 8-Day Westminster Chiming mechanism, with 4 x under-slung hammers chiming on their brass rods. Stamped into the movements plain finished backplate is the famous ‘Crossed-Arrows’ trademark of HAC, along with its build date of “338”, (meaning Aug 1933) and the clocks movement number “200.” The clock chimes the quarters and hours and has a chime / silent adjustment leaver operated from the rear, it also comes with its original polished split-hook brass pendulum bob and a steel winding key.

Altogether, this is an absolute classic Deco period Westminster chiming mantle clock!
