Outstanding high-quality English Westminster chiming presentation Bracket Clock, by the Perivale Clock Manufacturing Co. Ltd, London.

The clock is wonderfully proportioned, having a Walnut case (numbered ‘12’) with deep graining and patination. The clock benefits from a hinged front glazed door and solid wood rear door (with separate key locking mechanism), and to the side of the case, there are two further glazed tablets, allowing the fine Westminster chiming movement to be viewed, the clocks architecture also includes a domed Pagoda top and a shaped brass carrying handle.

The ornate premium quality chrome chapter ring is mounted on a solid brass plate with black Roman numerals, minute indicators and fleur-de-lis, finished with a matted brass centre. The dial is then surrounded by four brass maiden head spandrels and finished with a pair of original blued steel Louis XV style hands secured by a threaded collet. The chime/silent lever is also located on the right side of the dial. (In order to emphasis the exquisitely high level of materials and craftmanship employed in the building of this clock, the dial is also signed by world-famous watchmakers and precious stone/metal designers, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd, London).

The clocks fabulous 8-day Perivale Westminster chime movement has 4 x rear-hung chiming hammers served by a scarce P3 Perivale cast iron chime-bar stand. The mechanism also an appealing lacquered and mottled patterned snailed backplate, an exclusive finish for Perivale’s range of presentation bracket clocks. Stamped into the backplate are the movements’ serial number (“288015”) and the 1947-52 Perivale logo (a seated Britannia holding a shield and spear), this one with the additional rare legend “Made in England”, only used on Perivale’s premium range clocks, which also helps with dating. The clock chimes the quarters and hours and comes with its original die-cast alloy lenticular pendulum bob and an authentic Perivale signed brass winding key (and its original rear door steel locking mechanism key).

Being a presentation clock, there is a lower front mounted brass plaque engraved to G.C.Fricker of Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd, dated 1952.

A hugely impressive early 1950’s British vintage clock of the highest order!
