Wonderful French striking vineyard wall clock in excellent overall condition by world renown, prestige clock maker Japy Frères & Co., Paris. Serviced in December 2020, the clock comes with an Antiquitatum guarantee.

Often referred to as ‘Oeil-de-Boeuf’, (bulls’ eye), clocks due to the round openings in their frontal designs, this clocks oval shaped Walnut and ripple fluted Ebonised case retains its original, visually stunning and hand-crafted Mother of Pearl floral decorative intarsia. The convex glazed dial has a cream coloured backing with black Roman numerals and the legend "P.V. Delecour, Le Gard", and finished with a pair of original blued steel Hollow Fuchsia hands secured with a pinned collet. These are all surrounded by a brass bezel mounted into the creative case.

The high-quality Japy Frères 8-day movement has the serial number “32579” stamped into the front plate and the famous 1884 ‘JFC’ company trademark stamped onto its backplate, (both helping to date the clock). It strikes its coiled gong on the hours and half-hours and comes with a period authentic steel winding key and its original pendulum with brass bob.

A beautifully proportioned and attractive antique French vineyard clock.
